HELPING FAMILIES DIVORCE With Less Conflict

Helping Families Divorce With Less Conflict

Today the divorce rate in Washington stands at nearly 50 percent. So it shouldn’t surprise you that, as an experienced divorce attorney, I meet with a lot of people every week. Most of those people never thought they would need to meet with me, and it can be an uncomfortable experience. While every situation is different, I find that almost everyone needs some of the same things: personal attention from an attorney who can relate to how you feel, who will treat you with dignity and respect, and who will protect your best interests.

I am attorney Teena Johnson, and I assume that you are reading this because you believe you’re at the point where you may need a divorce lawyer, too. It is natural to have questions and feel short of answers at this stage. I am happy to meet with you to discuss those concerns and to help you decide your best options.

Get the benefit of my experience – from negotiation to litigation

I learned long ago what you may just now be realizing: Divorce is a major life event. It brings on a multitude of emotions – most of them negative, but not all — that make dealing with divorce-related issues much more difficult.

I can help guide you through your divorce or legal separation with the skill and knowledge that I have acquired through many years of practicing family law.

There are many ways to work through a divorce or legal separation: agreements between spouses, mediation, collaborative law, and traditional litigation. When we meet, we can discuss which option might be best for you and your situation.

The right perspective on divorce

Divorce is more than just a series of decisions about who gets what when you split up the real estate, cars, and 401K and decide about child custody. It is a life-changing event for yourself and your children, and whenever possible, I will work with you to reduce stress and trauma in the process. When we meet, we will discuss the facts of your situation and all of your options for how to proceed.  I will share information on collaborative law and mediation and we can talk about whether either of those options will be appropriate in your situation.

I can also assist you in these related areas:

  • Child support and visitation
  • Prenuptial agreements
  • Valuation of marital assets
  • Division of marital assets and debt
  • Enforcement of custody, visitation and support agreements
  • Legal separation
  • Annulment
  • Spousal maintenance
